Who R U Picking?

Mayweather.

That's the short answer.

The long answer is I am extremely doubtful, but I always trust my first instinct on a fight.  My first thought was Mayweather on an easy decision victory solidifying his standing as a living Hall of Famer.

He's already a HOFer regardless, but this fight?  This would literally put a stamp on his standing as an all-time, top five ever.  Ever.

This is coming from someone (me) who despises Floyd "Money" Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs).  I despise his mouth.  I despise how he takes everything he has for granted and his belief that he is the best to ever fight.

Yes, he actually said that.

To quote his majesty...

"I got respect for Sugar Ray Robinson. I've got respect for Muhammad Ali," Mayweather said. "But I'm a man just like they're men. I put on my pants just like they put on their pants. What makes them any better than I am? Because they fought a thousand fights? In my era, it's totally different, you know? It's pay-per-view now, so things change. It's out with the old and in with the new. Things change.

"Like I said, Muhammad Ali is one hell of a fighter. But Floyd Mayweather is the best. Sugar Ray Robinson is one hell of a fighter, but Floyd Mayweather is the best."

True story, he actually said that.

Yes, Floyd, you are a fantastic fighter.  Simply a masterful tactician in the ring.  Rolling his shoulder back to counter punch an unsuspecting opponent and as a tremendous defensive tool.

It's just when I see Floyd, when I hear him talk, when I hear that smug "I'm better than you" tone/talk coming out of his mouth...I instantly can't find a way to like him as a person.

Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs) on the other hand, well Shane, at least seems to be, and according to everything that anyone has ever said about it, is a tremendous human being.  One of the most generous and kind hearted people you'll ever meet.

Seems like he is sincerely a good down to earth person.  At least from my point of view.

OK so onto the point of the blog...

Like I said above, I am taking Floyd Mayweather Jr. in this fight over "Sugar" Shane Mosley by just the slimmest of margins.

I think the scorecard should look something like this, 115-113.

I do think it will be that close, if for no other reason than Shane knows this could be his last gasp at solidifying his all-time standing amongst boxing fans.

Mosley really does seem to be fighting to make his mark on the people watching this fight.  He may like the money he is making for the fight (6.7 mil & part of the PPV profits), but he, unlike Floyd, seems to want to cement his legacy.

He wants it to be 50 years from now and have boxing fans reminisce and say, "I remember this guy Shane Mosley, he was one of the greats..."

Shane did have a fantastic quote as well...

"I think there is too big a deal being made about the fact that Floyd is undefeated," he said. "Before my first loss, I was 38-0 with 35 KOs. That's a hell of a record, but that didn't mean I couldn't be beat, and it doesn't mean Floyd can't, either."

All that being said, I do believe Shane has what it takes to keep it close and I think he will win the first 3-4 rounds before Floyd settles into his flow and takes over with his abundance of speed, defensive skills, and ring generalship.

My Pick

Floyd Mayweather Jr. over "Sugar" Shane Mosley, D12

As a side note, I sent a note to Amir Khan (who faces Paulie Malignaggi on May 15 for Khan's WBA Championship) via Twitter asking...

kingsrandomness<----ME! @PaulMalignaggi @AmirKingKhan I value fighters opinions on fights very much, who do you two have in the Mosley-Mayweather mega fight 2morrow?

To which he responded...
AmirKingKhan @kingsrandomness I think maywether by points. Floyd wil n to quick and sharp and he's young and fresher, unless shanes catch's him early

I agree totally Amir.  Me and Amir are now friends.

That last statement was a lie, although I was ridiculously excited, and ever rather giddy, if you will, that a famous person actually responded to an inquiry of mine.
