Bye Belly, Helloooooo Baby!

150 hours of breastfeeding, 300 diaper changes, and thousands of kisses later ... Will Jr. is one month old!!

Everyone says it, but it really is crazy how quick time goes. I feel like it was just yesterday I found out I was pregnant! It wasnt quite the picture perfect scene they show in movies... there was no jumping up and down rejoicing, no calls to relatives or friends. The whirlwind of emotion left me in tears; I was scared. Scared of growing up. Scared of having a miscarriage. But more than anything, scared of not being good enough as a mom.

Jump ahead nine SUPER QUICK months, 5 hours of labor and a c-section later, I saw my son for the first time. No words can really explain this...

Although a little loopy from the anesthesia, the moment was so surreal. He was so innocent, so perfect. Right then I knew my life was finally beginning...and I was ready for the ride.

Having been a mom for one month, I am definitely still "in training". The first thing I learned about my son is that he is very patient (one quality he definitely doesnt get from me!). I'm going to quickly skim over how his first nail trimming turned into a blood bath, and how his head may or may not have gotten bumped on a couple doorways. Like I said guys...IN TRAINING- no need to call CPS just yet! I could go on and complain about the late nights or lack of sleep, but I'm so grateful for the gift I have been given. Motherhood is not a right, its a privilege. I realize all the sacrifices are worth it when I get to wake up everyday to this face...
Some of my favorite moments with Will are often the most understated. I feel like I could lay with him on my chest forever... if I could just freeze that moment in time.

There is also something to be said about seeing your husband transform into a father. Watching Will interact with the baby makes my heart melt. Ever so nurturing, with nothing but pride in his eyes, Will has taken on the role of 'Dad' with such ease. He is often the voice of reason reminding me to relax as I worry about every little noise the baby makes.

So Happy One Month Will Jr! One month may not be much time, but you are already growing and changing everyday. You are no longer my little 7 pound baby, as you now are a solid ten pounds and growing strong. (Did I mention he LOVES to eat??). I can't wait to learn more about you, watch you grow, and be by your side on this journey known as life :)

  2. Happy One Month Will Jr! Maybe he'll grow up to be an author because both Mom & Dad are great writers.
